Dr. Severin

The history PTAH Global Initiatives begins from Dr. Severin was a youth growing up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Dr. Severin passion always led him to tap into existing infrastructure to maximize local abilities.

As a youth organizing football tournament was a norm not only to satisfy his passion for the game more than anything to challenge himself among his peers. A goal Richard always enjoyed by witnessing how his peers were mobalized to achieve great feats.

In the years after arriving in The United States, Richard saw the absence of Haitian students presence in high school activities as one that had to be addressed. He joined the Caribbean Students Association and participated in the annual Caribbean festival to show case his pride in Haitian culture.

Upon entering The City College of New York-CUNY, Dr. Severin quickly embraced Africana Studies and combine together with several classmates and form the Black Studies Students Organization with the aim of, again, addressing and bridging the cultural gap that existed. This gap was not limited to African students alone but everyone. From BSSO, Severin joined the Day Student Government where he served as senator, academic affairs Vice President and as Executive Vice President of evening student government. Enough with the biographical anecdotes.

Throughout the many years Severin’s passion for service remain the spark which will give birth to PTAH Global Initiatives. The will to assist and remedy those in need was ever present throughout Richard years growing up. Even as an educator Brother Severin, as he was affectionately called by his students, always focus on empowering each student for greater achievement in the future. He never missed an opportunity to shed some guidance on how each learner can contribute to a greater cause. Hence, it is not at all surprising that PGI seek to pursue the stability and offers relief effort through tapping into existing infrastructure.

Witnessing world and local tragic events and through many years of traveling observing the lack of resources people have to survive, Dr. Severin noted there is much work needed to be done to address economic disparity. Hence the task of PGI is to empower people withthe tools and resources to better their lives.
